In the spirit of cricket ( Workshop with gavin byers)

This exhibition/happening took place in collaboration with well known composer Gavin Byers, whom we had asked to guide us as a chior. None of us had any experience with singing, reading notes or singing together. We would attempt to harmonize through the work ‘If the Root be in confusion Nothing will be well governed (1968) by Cornelius Cardew.’ A singing piece in which each repeats words in their own tempo, and in the meanwhile attempts to harmonize with those they hear around them.

We performed this piece all together while an unninterrupted 5-hour video of the party the day before was projected in the bodega around which we were walking.

On the night before the final show (to see my work for the final show CLICK HERE) we did a sleepover at the Ratti Foundation villa. This night I asked everyone to do this singing piece again, but instead of the original words we sang ‘If we were to die tonight’.

This was part of the third exhibition of the residency, to see the work from the other exhibitions click one of these links.
