This exhibition took place outside in the garden of KASK. and in Paveljoen, an independent exhibition space. It was curated by Shino Matsuura, Lea Manguy and Yanna Kok. ‘To Undiscovered Lands’ in its entirety was a month long, exhibition with weekly performances/happenings by international artists.

I presented ‘ATTEMPT TO DIG TO THE OTHER SIDE’. The intention was to leave some shovels there for the month and see how far along we got, but that was not what happened. Very quickly we ran into trouble, due to ecological reasons it was STRICTLY forbidden to dig a hole in the ground.

With no hole or shovels ‘ATTEMPT TO DIG TO THE OTHER SIDE’ took on a new meaning. It began to sound like a spiritual command pointed at the outside world. I liked the way this text functioned and decided to continue playing with this. So I invited some friends to continue this poetry for the two weeks that remained at that point. This work opened a new way of thinking about text for me, to see the text-based work that followed this one CLICK HERE.
